EXPANDING CURRENTS
Expanding Currents
The natural drives that help us open, connect, express, move, create, choose, and grow.
If survival instincts are what protect us, then Expanding Currents are what move our lives forward. These are the natural drives that lead us to explore, connect, express, move, create, choose, and grow.
The Mountains protect the system when life feels dangerous. The Expanding Currents move through the system when there is enough safety to engage with life. They are not as loud as survival instincts, but they are just as important. They are the drives that help the Self reach outward, form new meanings, and grow into a larger understanding of the world. I call them currents because they do not usually strike the system all at once like survival instincts.
They move slower.
They build.
They guide.
They gather strength as we follow them.
When we follow these currents, we expand. When they are blocked, pressure builds and the system shifts into protection. These currents move through curiosity, connection, expression, movement, creativity, and choice.
Curiosity opens the Self to what is unknown.
Connection brings the Self into relationship.
Expression gives the inner world a voice.
Movement turns inner energy into action.
Creativity allows something new to form.
Choice directs the Self from awareness instead of reaction.
When curiosity is blocked, we become certain too quickly.
When connection is blocked, we isolate or cling.
When expression is blocked, we silence ourselves or erupt later.
When movement is blocked, we become stuck or restless.
When creativity is blocked, life becomes rigid.
When choice is blocked, we live from reaction instead of direction.
What if growth is less about rebuilding yourself and more about creating the conditions for something already alive to grow?
